With summer drawing to close, it’s time to put away those cute sundresses and flip-flops for another year and embrace the fabulous trends that are coming your way. There are some great looks around next season, so no matter what your shape, style or age there will be a look and a trend to suit you.
To give you a taster of things to come, we thought that we’d give you a quick guide to some of the biggest trends to look out for. With new season goodies hitting the shops already, you’ll have to be quick to get the best buys.
Black Black is back in a big way next season, which is great news for slimming down your figure. From bad girl, gothic romance, power dressing and chic minimalism, there will be a way to wear black for you. The key to keeping this trend from looking boring and bland is through texture and accessorising. Leather, patent, lace, sequins and embellishment are all things to look out for, and they will bring your current black back up to date.
Folklore A look that we think will be huge, it’s a mixture of luxury boho and 1970’s chic and there won’t be a girl in the land who won’t want to embrace it. Ditsy prints, paisley, embellishment, fringing, waistcoats, fur – think romantic Russian and you’re on the right track. This look is so easy to incorporate into your current wardrobe that you won’t wont to give it up. Wide leg, bootcut and flared jeans are a flattering basis for folklore so ditch those skinny jeans now.
Jewel Tones Black well may be back, but so are gorgeous winter colours to offer to the more daring of you out there a chance to shine all winter. Rich berrys, burnished golds, forest greens and deep sea navy blues will soon become a staple in your wardrobe. These sumptuous colours look best in rich fabrics like silk and satin, lending themselves perfectly to cocktail dresses and the busy Christmas period. But don’t forget them in your down time too, tights, knits and coloured coats are all sure fire ways to inject some easy colour into your wardrobe this winter.
English Heritage Old English country charm is the theme to go for here, a look that is both classic and chic. Tweeds, tartan, tan, riding boots and silk scarves are all little touches to add to create this country lady look. Very flattering for every figure, go for a fuller skirt shape, fitted tops, warming knitwear and lady like dresses to bring some heritage chic to your wardrobe.
Accessories A new season round up wouldn’t be complete without a quick look at our favourite fashion items – shoes and bags! This is the season of the shoe, from sky high and sculptural to flat and bejewelled; make sure that it is your feet that are doing the talking. Bags have taken a bit of a back seat but clutches are still big news, as are luxury fabrics and embellishment. Statement jewellery is another key trend to embrace, with bold cuffs and super sized necklaces making an appearance on every catwalk. Accessories are the easiest way to embrace the new trends and best of all, it doesn’t matter what body shape you are to look fabulous in them.
